i'm rachel, your friendly neighborhood birth doula, prenatal yoga instructor, and all-around birth hypewoman.
Congratulations on this incredible journey you're embarking on. As you prepare to welcome your little one into the world, it's natural to have a mix of excitement, nerves, and maybe even a touch of "OMG, what am I doing?!" Don't worry, you've got this — and I'm here to help! Think of me as your go-to for navigating the wild world of childbirth. Whether you're planning a home birth, a hospital birth, or somewhere in between, I've got your back.
My background is varied - I’m a former Army officer, military spouse, musician, yogi, and soon-to-be mom of one. I decided to train for my doula certification during my own pregnancy, after being amazed (and sometimes stressed) at the changes my body was making to support a new life. After spending the last 5 years in Germany, my husband and I are relocating to Okinawa, Japan, where I can’t wait to help women and their partners navigate this time with support, grace, and a healthy dose of realism.
What exactly does a birth doula do? Picture your advocate, your personal birthing assistant, and your calmness coach all rolled into one. I'm here to offer unwavering support and evidence-based information to help you feel confident throughout your pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
From easing pregnancy pains with yoga tailored to you, to helping you craft your ideal birth plan (yes, even if it involves blasting T-Swift in the delivery room), I'm here to ensure you feel empowered, informed, and badass every step of the way.
I'll be there during labor to provide comfort measures, emotional support, and a hefty dose of encouragement when you need it most. I'm not just here for you—I'm here for your partner too. Because let's face it, childbirth is a team sport, and having a supportive partner or family member by your side can make all the difference. From coaching them on the art of the hip squeeze to making sure they stay hydrated (hey, labor is hard work for everyone!), I’ll be helping them to help you.
So, if you're ready to embark on this incredible journey with a cheerleader, confidante, and all-around birth bestie by your side, then you're in the right place. Let's make magic happen, one contraction at a time.
